Insulated Glass Balcony Systems: A Balcony for All Four Seasons

Most balconies get used for only a few months of the year. Insulated glass balcony systems shelter that space from wind and cold, turning it into a room you can live in through the winter too.

How it differs from single glazing

Conventional folding glass balconies keep out rain and dust, but they do not insulate. In an insulated system the air gap between the two panes and the thermal detail in the profile do the work: condensation on the inner face drops, and so does the cost of heating.

What changes day to day

  • The balcony becomes somewhere you can sit in winter, adding usable floor area.
  • Noise from outside falls noticeably.
  • Sliding and folding sashes mean returning to an open balcony in summer takes seconds.

A well-conceived balcony system is one of the least expensive investments that genuinely enlarges a flat.

The profile decides the performance

Success here rests on the profile far more than on the glass. The section that carries the sash weight, the sealing gasket and the precision of the sliding mechanism together decide whether the sash still opens with one hand years later. That is why we machine our sliding series profiles and joinery systems to close tolerances on CNC equipment and finish their surfaces on our own anodising line.

Share the dimensions of your balcony and which way it faces, and we can work out together which series is right for it.
